Valley Community Workspace

“The Valley Community Workspace (VCW) is a co-working space in North East Valley, Dunedin. Our vision is to promote and support change toward a socially just, sustainable low carbon future in the Valley and connected communities.

VCW (Inc) Committee oversees the use of our 500sq m. space. Current tenants include Dunedin Makerspace – an electronics and robotics development space; a DIY bicycle workshop; electric and recumbent bicycle enthusiasts, electric car conversion enthusiasts, a welding workshop and a local electrician business. Tenants have their own space and access to shared areas, ‘bumping’ spaces for creativity, problem solving and sharing tools and expertise. We model caring, collaborative ways of working that demonstrate we value people and the environment.

Basically, we are getting on with working the way we want the future to be.
The trading purpose of VCW is to provide a co-working environment for its innovative sub-lessees, who are working on green technology ventures, and training apprentices.
The community purpose of VCW is to support these ventures with community support, marketing assistance, additional volunteer labour, connections, helping them train and inspire young people, and connecting them to opportunities.

We are a not-for-financial-profit group, however, we do need to generate money to pay the rent to our community-minded landlords, the ‘Valley Project’. Then they can use this to help fund our Valley community workers and local newsletter, so the money stays in our community. You can support us by joining as a member, donating funds or expertise, volunteering, or renting space.”
